Managing Client Stress and Lifestyle Factors

August 01, 2018

my biggest stress thing, that's the first thing. The second thing is teaching clients. We talk about everything as optimal or practical. Like I can tell you an optimal, I could write down a schedule, your optimal day, but you wouldn't be able to do it. So we have to start, we've got to look at the client. We have to write down all the things that stress them out and then start digging for things that they don't realize is stressing them out. And you go, okay, we need to separate this into things that they can get rid of and things they have to manage. For example, you can't just get rid of your kids. I mean, you can, and some people do, but most of our clients aren't going to do that. Like you can't just walk your kid in a fricking dog crate and leave them there with a, you know, towel over it. Right. It's dog food. You can't do that. Like, it's not right. If people get into trouble, they get on the news for that, but you can, you, you can teach them how to manage their reaction to stuff their kids are doing, right. Or that their partner's doing, or that their boss is doing, or that their employees are doing. So you got to teach them how to manage that type of stuff. And, and if it's a lot of that stuff's really out of our, wheelhouse as trainers. And it's a, it's a, that's a good time to say, well, maybe you should go talk to someone and get them with a qualified counselor that can, that's, we'll do a much better job than we will at telling them and giving them strategies of how to manage their own stress. And then the stuff that can get, you can get rid of, like you said, like I can, I can make an agreement with myself that I will put my phone away and I will only like, let's say I'm only going to check my emails at 8am and 8pm, something like that. Or I'm only going to check Facebook at 8am and 8pm, right? I'm going to check my emails. I get emails from 8 to 10 in the morning. And then I maybe four to five at night. So you make these little schedules with yourself. And then you stay the fuck off the stuff because that's the stuff that's really getting everyone all bent out of shape and irritated. Perfect. Yeah, 100% agree. It improves not only just your stress, but your work output and productivity as well. Because you can actually get shit done then, right? yeah that's the number one thing of not getting shit done is being distracted and trying to multi-manage or multi-task between things that don't fucking matter
