Aerobic Health and Cardiovascular Adaptations

And those workouts obviously have a really high cardiovascular demand, right? They do, but then cardiovascular demands, this is kind of part of that least mode to beast mode concept as well. You look at cardiovascular demands and cardiovascular adaptations. What we find is the majority of people that come to us, they're going to fit in one or two categories. They're either way too aerobically dominant, that these are the girls that are doing, you know, two hours of cardio a day. Their weightlifting looks like cardio, and they've been doing this for a long time. And the last thing they did is more aerobic development. Then you have it on the other side where the guys, this is what I get with every single fucking polyquin trainer I've ever dealt with. They wake up in the morning and they've got 90 to 95 waking heart rate. Their HRV is like 45 to 48. Their blood pressure is like the 140s or the 150s. They look fantastic, but their hair is falling out. They've got low testosterone, low thyroid. They can't eat anything without it busting their guts up and giving them diarrhea. And they just generally feel like shit. Look amazing, feel like shit, and they perform like shit. so they come to us and say okay you've got you've been on the anaerobic side for so long we've got to give you something that's more pulling you back towards the aerobic side so we look at what cardiovascular adaptation that would be and that would be low low intensity steady state cardio or i don't even want to say cardio because that that kills the semantics of what we're talking about it's low steady state aerobic work under about 65 75 percent vo2 max so this is something Like if you look at Joel Jameson's work and he talks about being in that 130 to 150 beats per minute range for your heart rate, staying in that range and going long term because that's giving you the specific cardiovascular adaptations that you want to lower blood pressure, lower waking heart rate and raise your HRV. And once they get that back into balance, their performance in the gym is going to go up because we recycle energy substrates through the aerobic system, not the anaerobic system. so if you're really really anaerobic and you have shit aerobic fitness you're you're not getting as much with your weight lifting as you could because you can't recycle creatine phosphate and atp fast enough or as fast as you could potentially be doing interesting i like so with these um when you're getting these people into the 130 150 beats per minute zone uh what are you getting them to do are they jogging or rowing i'll let them what is it just i'll let them do whatever they want i don't care if they wank it fast enough to hit 130 they can use sex they can i don't it doesn't matter to me but what you'll find like with a lot of the polo queen guys they can't jog 15 seconds without hitting 180 to 190 beats per minute which is fucking terrible right so a lot of those guys you know we'll put them on you know we'll put them on an incline like a treadmill we'll put them on an incline and have them walk it like almost barely walking and they're already hitting the zone and they're already building up lactate or they're building up hydrogen and their legs are filling that the lactic acid

It burned, if you will. And at that low level of intensity, that's pretty bad.
