March 03, 2019
man all right that's a really good overview of lease mode i love it mate we're a little bit in reverse here but how was the the track the evolution of your career within the industry because i gather there was a time where you were very much a beast mode and ticking all the boxes that you've just described here yeah you know what look yeah we're all young and dumb and full of cum at one point right now i'm just old and i cum dust so you know in my 20s and in my early 30s i was you know i was in kind of that poliquin headspace where he is uh you can't do cardio it makes you fat and i'll just jump in there i'll do say look if you google uh lumen at lehman uh you'll see him come up with uh nick and he's jacked off his head you're just saying with god look at the size of luke and and uh credit where credit's due um nick's uh he's he's massive as well like it was just that period of time back then he was so massive like scary massive and shredded yeah just big yeah but you look massive too because i was going who's this dude man that was the first time i actually saw you yeah yeah that was a good time that was in uh arizona we were teaching biosec i gather it was like an iconic biosec it was like one of the best of all time it really was it was it was a hell of a class um and going in and training with those guys with derek whiskey and charles and and nick was awesome and yeah i did a leg training session with with nick and i couldn't stand up straight for like two days it was just horrendous but uh anyway that piece mate continue so yeah look i i grew up in that i grew up as a strength athlete i did the discus and the shot put powerlift i started the powerlifting team in my high school i kept powerlifting after high school and then you know got tired of all the people wearing the supportive gear so i went into bodybuilding and mainly physique you know before physique was even a category um but uh yeah i was i didn't give a shit about health i i was squatting 700 pounds i was deadlifting benching close to 500 i didn't give a shit i was fast you know i look great and And then, you know, that works for you in your 20s. And then you get to about 35 and you go, oh, man, stuff's starting to fall apart. What the hell's going on? You know, I thought I had it all figured out. Then I started studying Joel Jamison's stuff, Alex Vasquez's stuff, Dr. Brian Walsh's stuff. And I went, okay, like, if I want longevity and to last a long time and I got more into anti-aging, you know, I'm going to have to figure something out. So I started getting into, well, let's look at different types of conditioning. Like, we have different strength qualities and you do a certain strength quality for a certain adaptation. well is what is cardio is cardio cardio and it's not like doing different types of conditioning elicits a different response and that can be bonded in with your strength training to create a full system and every adaptation should build on the next phase and so i started getting into that when i decided i didn't have to try to be the you know facading all the time trying to be the silverback gorilla you know 270 pound alpha male wannabe you know so i kind of got over that stuff I learned how to have empathy and I learned how to actually talk to people and was that always when muscle nerds came in fruition because way way way back in the day you actually we actually connected it's like hey man I'm doing this muscle nerd thing you know I gonna come to Sydney and it didn come into fruition but I think the stars went aligned but was that always the philosophy of Muscle Nerds or did that Muscle Nerds sort of evolve over time to what it is today
