Recovery Philosophy: Beast Mode Your Least Mode

January 03, 2019

So back up a little bit. You mentioned something there. There's a few things, right? So you mentioned this least mode. I want to hear about that before you jump into it again. Something that's stuck with me since one of the first episodes we did in this podcast with yourself and your partner. Yeah, you and Zoe were episodes two and three of this podcast. So this is a pretty meaningful event. We've got a relationship going on. This is a mini anniversary going on right now. It is. Something that's stuck with me. you said and i preach this to everyone because i think it applies to all sports and you can it definitely does you can only train as hard as you can recover that is something that has absolutely stuck me but i was going to get a training philosophy that would definitely tattooed on me that would definitely be in contention you know train hard recover hard so if you're willing to come in and beast yourself out in the gym and beat yourself in life you need to beast mode your least mode which means you have to take the recovery seriously yeah and that's what people don't want to do they'll come in here and they'll train hard four days a week and they're gasping for breath or puking in the bathroom, but then you tell them you should probably go get a massage this week, or you, maybe you need to go talk to a counselor. They go, nah, I don't have fucking time for that. Yeah. Well, you don't have time not to do that. Right. So how about you come in for, you know, 45, 20 minutes, we bash you up and then we do some stretching or maybe I do some yoga with you, or maybe we just talk, or maybe we do some fascial stretch therapy or whatever it is. A lot of coaches only have one thing and they're one tool in their toolbox, which is training. So maybe we learn how to do some assisted partner stretching. And during that time, you're talking to the guy about, okay, let's talk about your food while I stretch you. So you're killing two birds with one stone, or as I like to say, two girls in one cup. So, please don't ever say that again.
