The Shift in Fitness Culture and Fit Shaming

June 21, 2021

it's just getting acceptable to not be fit anymore. And it's getting like, it's getting people who work out now it's weird. Like that's kind of the way it's moving now. It's almost unpolitically correct to want to be fit. so we've gone from we've gone from assholes in our industry doing all fat shaming and all that and that's really bad but now it's a bunch of fit shaming too like you're really weird if you eat clean you're really weird if you eat you know like i when i diet i'm boring i don't like hyper-calorable foods or i'll binge right this is normal thing i'm getting ready right now for photo shooting video stuff and i basically eat chicken thigh rice and veg i love it i can i can eat that all the time. That's not for everybody. But people would think nowadays that that's super weird. But 20 years ago, when I got in the industry, that was totally normal. That's fine. Eat fish at every meal, chicken at every meal, low fat, moderate carb, high protein, nothing weird about that. But now it's become this really weird thing. And people are starting to demonize something that should be a really good tool to give you accountability and let you set a bar of where you're at and then you can say okay i'm eating this many calories and i'm training this much okay why am i not sleeping well why am i not losing weight why am i gaining weight why am i holding water why do i feel irritable okay maybe we need to bring those calories up or down but if you don't measure it you can't manage it that's huge and i think exactly i think it's peter drucker that said that as well in relation to when you're kind of eating the foods they're eating getting ready for your shoot and stuff how have you ever had that whole thing about that fit shaming and how do you deal with the comments yourself and how do you kind of knock them away yeah um i have actually i have
