Adapting to Client Beliefs and Preferences

February 18, 2021

I think for a long time, you know, I was anti-vegan and I'm not anti-vegan. I don't think it's optimal if it's, but if you're doing it because you love animals and all this, then cool. If it's a religious thing, cool. If it's because you watch Game Changers, I'm still going to go cool, even though I don't agree with it. But one of my, One of my best friends in the world, a woman named Marge, who is in Perth, she's a vegan. And so we have a lot of long discussions about this because I didn't really understand why someone would not want a big fucking Wagyu steak. And I come from Texas, so that's what they do. When you're a baby in Texas, you get breast milk and then your parents cook steaks and then they blend it and then put in a bottle and you suck on steak, right? So we had a lot of discussions about this. She says, look, you're never going to change someone's belief system. people that go into veganism for reasons like loving animals or thinking that's the healthiest way, you're never going to change that. All you're going to do is make people not want to work with you. And I went, fuck, you were right. So I just decided to learn how to write vegan diets and help vegans Right And you know she she teaches body combat and I said okay she said come to the body combat and went absolutely not i not fucking doing that and so eventually i said okay i gonna go to body combat so myself and zoe my wife went in the body combat i was fucking destroyed destroyed i'm in the back of this class and i'm seeing girls that are massively overweight fit as fuck never seen that before these girls are killing it and I looked at that and went man I've been a real asshole being against this type of thing like look at how much joy they're having doing this and this is probably the only thing they'll do over the week this is fantastic so now I'm like pro les mills like I'm still I don't want people to think I'm a cardio bunny I'm still still love to smash the weights I think people should do blend of weights and conditioning but I'm no longer that guy and I haven't been for a good number of years of like, you don't need to do that. That's bad. You need to do this thing. Right. And so you got to work with what they're willing to do and you got to match your expectations with their abilities. Yeah, 100%. I love that. And that's probably something that I have picked up from you over the years is to be that kind of chameleon and just work around the client's needs and wants. And in terms of the last question, the last question before I let you go is going to be to every guest that I come on, I always talk about non-negotiables a lot in my own content and in my own life. So
