Chapter 3 · The Flex Success Podcast
Meeting Zoe and Relationship Story
April 09, 2023
You and Zoe met, I imagine, correct me if I'm wrong, at a gym or at some sort of educational course. At a course, yeah. So I was teaching for Policum Group in Sydney and she was one of the students. And I had just come off of probably one of the worst classes I'd ever taught. Not because I taught bad, because the students were terrible. like this was a PICP level one level two course where you're learning how to coach and how to train and they basically tore this guy facility to pieces like one kid got locked in the bathroom we had to kick the door in So Paul and group had to buy them a new door They started they were doing drop lunges off the guy plates and rubbed all the stickers off of his nice bumper plates One kid was doing we were doing assisted Nordic curls. And so I told the guys, I said, now the guys that are holding the ankles down, make sure you keep your head down in case something weird happens. kid had his head up uh the guy had 80 pounds on the bar he let go of the triceps rope and the uh triceps ball thing hit him right in the eye and he had to get like four stitches blood everywhere so i came off of that course going oh my god australians are the dumbest motherfuckers i've ever met in my life what in the fuck is wrong with these people so i walked into the next class which was teaching biosig and i said i hope you guys are smarter than those dumb motherfuckers from last weekend. And so that's kind of how I set the tone of the weekend. And so Zoe instantly did not like me. And, and, you know, I didn't, I didn't really notice her in class, she was there to learn. And when you go to some of these courses, you can tell like some of the girls, especially biosig, where people are getting half naked and pinching each other. There's people coming in and looking to hook up like people will actually do. Hey, Daisy, people will actually do contest prep for Biosig to look good, right? It's a weird culture, but Zoe comes in in like trackies and kind of like a... I'm convinced it was a side ponytail. She says she's never had one, but I'm convinced it was... She was... It was a real loose kind of three-quarter ponytail, like didn't wear any makeup. She wasn't there. She was there to learn, not for anything else. So I just kind of like glazed over her for whatever reason. And plus, I was still mad from the weekend before and those students. And then then I ended up coming up to Gold Coast and to stay with a friend of mine who is actually the guy who told her to do the course. I saw her post on someone's post. I thought she was funny. So as you do, I cyber stalker all of her social media. And I said, oh, man, I really want to meet this chick. So I texted her and I said, hey, you know, kind of slid into those DMs. And I said, hey, I'm here for three weeks. Will you go out with me? And she says, no, absolutely not. Just shut me down immediately. So I'm like, I'm going, are you kidding? Like, what's the deal? Let's talk this out. She's like, no, no, you don't remember me. You were my instructor last weekend for biosec. You're an arrogant prick and blah, blah, blah, blah. She actually sent, Polycom Group sent anonymous surveys, and she actually gave me a bad review. So, yeah, so, but I didn't let that stop me. I like a good challenge. So every day I dropped in her DMs and asked her out over and over and over and over, and I finally wore her down. Is that harassment? If anything, this is a testament to Luke's game and charisma. Oh, all right. I've got a tattoo here that says relentless. So it took me two weeks, convinced her to go out, and it was supposed to be just one, like just a date, kind of a, you know, we both knew what it was supposed to be. It was just going to be kind of like a hookup one-night stand type thing, and it ended up being a four-day date. And then two and a half months later, she sold her car, quit her two jobs, and flew to America and met me in Boston. And we've been together ever since. It's been five years now. I reckon the only kind of person that would have that sort of behavior would be a side ponytail wearing chick. There's no way she was a straight 180 with a normal ponytail. No one does that with a normal ponytail. Respect to Zoe for shutting you down and telling you you're a piece of shit when she thought it. I love that honesty. That is so good. I've also been houndering Zoe to come on the podcast too because Zoe's got a big brain and people need to know about Zoe. And now she's already featured. She doesn't even know it, but she's got a background feature. So she's on here now. she may as well come on and talk more shit later. I told her this morning, I said, I'm going to go ahead and tell them, I'm going to go ahead and commit you for next week. And she's like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'll, I'll, I'll do it myself. I'm like, all right, well let's, let's come on, let's get it going. Like she needs to get out there. People need to hear from her, man. She's got, she's got such a different perspective than a lot of the rest of us because she, she can't, she wasn't really a trainer. Like when I met her, she had been doing bootcamp stuff for a year and a half, two years. and she was done a couple of personal training sessions. So she's been able to see kind of both sides of being just a regular civilian versus actually being in the industry and then skyrocketing up in the industry to kind of that weird niches and seeing a weird pocket of the strength and conditioning industry
