The Problem with Instant Gratification and Influencer Coaching

Yeah, and I think it's what you said before, you need to know the why behind what you're doing. So for anyone out there who has hired a coach, ask them why. Like, it's quite funny to sort of hear people try to come up with an answer when you go, okay, well, why am I doing this? And you know yourself, like often the answer is just completely just fluff and it doesn't even really make any sense. Well, I remember years ago, I'm talking probably eight years ago, when I was lecturing, I realized that probably the best answer for everything is it depends, right? And so I started saying that, but then I would talk about all the things it depends on. Now it depends seems to be the answer that most people give, but then they don't give any clarity because what they're using it depends as a shield because they don't actually know. So they go, well, that depends on a lot of factors. And then they kind of move on and they don't clarify what they mean by that. So if you're asking your coach why you're doing things and what would work best and if they say it depends or whatever and they can't clarify all the things it depends on, then they're probably full of shit. yeah and I think that your client has way more respect for you if you just say I'm honestly not sure but let me do a little bit of research the amount of times that I've said that I'm not going to go out there and say hey look yeah I'm just going to give you a bullshit answer because if that person's actually got you know a thought in their head they'll go and research it themselves and come back to me and say you were fucking wrong yeah yeah you just pulled that out of your ass yeah that's the thing like when we lecture my staff and myself that's we it's very often we tell people i don't know but i'll try to find out for you like you can't possibly know everything and you know sometimes you'll get crazy questions that come out of left field that the people you can never figure out the answer it's best to just go and they doubt and come back to them they respect it a lot more yeah
