Legacy and the Passion for Teaching

I think like, when are you going to retire? What are you going to do next? That's like, I'm doing it like, you know, what is it right? Fuck what I do. that's what I say to people like what am I I'm dead like then by like do nothing like I don't want to do nothing like I'm going to be doing this in in some realm something you know it's like you're you're training coaches now so it's like you're training coaches to have great impact it's like yeah that's that's the goal right it's just continuing it's nice we're in it we're in an industry where we don't have to retire I won't retire I may dial it back at some point or I'm being like funnel it down but I'm never going to stop yeah I mean I mean I'm not working 60 70 hours a week, I may work 40 like a regular job, but I will never stop. And that's an old school thing too, especially in Texas. Like my father, my father was a mechanic and my father, he worked overtime. He was in his sixties, still working overtime. He ended up, he had back surgery and ended up getting cancer, multiple myeloma, right?

No, like the percentage. You can do the chemo. We can do the radiation. You're probably going to die. My mom lied to him and said, no, no, no, doctor said you're fine. Just do the medication. Because we knew if we told him he was going to die, the doctor said he's got like three months. He ended up living like two and a half years longer. He worked until the day he died. He worked until he got to the point where his mental capacity couldn't work anymore because of all the treatments, fuck his brain. But I asked him, what are you doing? Why don't you just retire? He goes, what else would I do? because i enjoy what i enjoy and so he enjoyed just going to the shop and working on the machines and stuff and he goes i i'll work until they tell me i'm not allowed to work in him like okay that's that's how i was yeah i think that we're blessed to be doing something that we love so we don't really need a break from it like we were happily working seven days a week you know i'm going yeah going back to adelaide and i'll be going straight back to work no rest like it's just like Like, we love it. It's enriching for me. Yeah. It's really, I just feel like I learned so much and I pass it off. And it's like, there's just so much, there's so much I get out of it, like helping everybody else and then learning from the students too. Right. Especially when they ask me questions. I'm like, man, let me think about that. Okay. Yeah. That makes sense. Yeah. Yeah. It's cool. It's great. Yeah.
