Early Influences and Texas Football Roots

May 25, 2022

What, let's go all the way back then, back to the start of like your journey in health and fitness then. For it to become a passion, who was some of like your initial, like what got you into it when you first started? Like how'd you, how'd you find it? How'd you? Yeah. So, I mean, I got into lifting for Texas football. Yeah. Because when you're, when you're a kid in Texas, when you're a guy, you're expected to play football. Like it is non-negotiable. So I went, fuck, you know, I started at seven or eight years old. I started lifting weights. Most of it was because I saw. A 7 or 8? Yeah. Wow. But I got into that aspect because I saw Arnold Schwarzenegger in Conan the Barbarian. I went, I want to look like that. And then I looked at my dad, who was 5'7", little Austrian Jewish guy, and I was like, oh, fuck. But then my parents' side, or my mom's side, is all German, so they're all tall. I'm the smallest guy on my mom's side, the biggest side on my dad's side. So I went, okay, maybe this will kind of balance itself out. I'll get my mom's height and my dad's height. And I did. But I started getting into it because I wanted to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Classic entry, everyone. Everyone, right? And then it kind of moved into getting ready for American football, and I had a lot of really good coaches, which is not normal in high school for us to have good coaches, but I had really good coaches who were ex-powerlifters. I started the powerlifting team at my high school, and we did that. And then I went to college and started doing, got more in the bodybuilding type stuff there and then back in the powerlifting. So back and forth through a bunch of different strength sports.
