Room 101: Fitness Industry Pet Peeves

so like just finishing off i said i wanted to sort of like finish off with something a little bit different a little bit um a little bit fun and you'd be kind of segued onto it because podcasts always do this i never know how they always come full circle but you started to go into things that grind your gears in the fitness industry and i did a podcast with brett who's one of one of was one of your mentees um yeah yeah and i was on his podcast we did an episode called room 101 so did you know that you can share the show room 101 in the UK. So Room 101 was a book, I can't remember whose book, was it George Orwell? But it was a book, it might have been George Orwell 1984 that was in, where there was Room 101 was this room where all the things that you wanted to go to hell went. And there was a TV show with Paul Merton in the UK, and it ended up becoming Frank Skinner, where people came on and things that they didn't like, they ground their gears, you know, they present it, and this is why I think this should go into Room 101, why I think Westlife should go into Room 101, or why I think lack of spatial awareness in Hong Kong. There's another cancellation one. Well, I want to go into Room 101. So I wanted to end with something a little bit fun. One thing from the fitness industry that you would send to Room 101, and one thing just generally out of left field you send to Room 101 and why? So many things in the industry right now. I think, man, how do you approach that? So one of the things is I wish everyone's elitist attitude about what they do would get thrown in room 101. Like, stop thinking that you've got everything figured out and that everybody's stupid and stop calling everybody stupid and stop saying that, you know, different methods and techniques are stupid and just see the value in it. And it's just it's a bit ridiculous. Like, there's a lot of stuff I don't agree with. Like a lot of the, the, the really pedantic biomechanics that people are putting into exercising. Um, I, I wouldn't throw that in room 101, but I'd say it's probably got less importance than just going in and finding positions that don't hurt and getting really fucking strong and doing that. But, you know, there's a lot of things that are irritating for sure. Um, like people don't want to work hard anymore. they they don't want to put weight on the bar and actually get stronger they don't want to put in the hard work they're finding ways of how do i work how do i do less hard work and try to get the same shit out of it and they don't understand it's not how it works the body is not going to become resilient unless you put it through some trauma and put the brain through some fear um yeah that's probably what probably all the bickering and fighting and everybody acting like they their way is the best way i love that from certainly elitist thing From the perspective of just like, most of the shit we argue about, we all argue about the little differences. And people forget the fact that 90 of it the fucking same You know we sit there going vegan the best or carnival the best or low But yeah they all work because you put someone in a calorie deficit now certain things might be better for certain populations etc etc but you you arguing about a method to do exactly the same thing and the one that the ones that are really annoying me when i see coaches are so caught up in this in this dogma like this person lost got shredded by you know three and a half thousand calories of carnivore diet no caloric deficit i'm like but they were though weren't they you know regardless when you didn't be a carnivore yeah like doesn't matter it's like they that and they act like the nutrition is an isolated like it lives in a vacuum like it's okay well what's their what's their need every day what how much exercise do they do like you know it is a lot of man i tell you what like
