Breathwork and Stress Resilience

do you believe in like is there anything you do in terms of like we spoke about this last time in terms of posture stuff but like mindfulness breath work the breath work's the big hype thing at the moment and i know when we spoke about from a posture standpoint we spoke about like well it's like trying to pitch in the ocean make it yellow it has a massive impact but can you control that in that short period of time when it comes to memory focus like this the other side of stuff like out of the gym stuff is this something you utilize with yourself or clients do you feel it's useful um i should i should do it and i know i should do it the problem is i go through spurts it's boring as fuck. So it's not to me, it's not like, it's not, I don't know the way to say like sexy enough for me to stick with. So the compliancy for myself is really poor. And I find the compliancy for that stuff with your clients are really poor as well. Like your clients don't mind going in and doing four or five hours of training a week, but you try to get them to do 10 or 15 minutes of mindful breathing and like headspace. You just, there was, I had such a low compliancy rate for it that I just got rid of it so I'll tell them to do it but I don't program it anymore because I know they're not going to do it anyways some people will like the more hippie foo-foo holistic type of you know clients will but most of my clients are like high level athletes and coaches and they just won't do it so I just stopped um what about ice ice therapy like cold showers things like this because you mentioned stress resilience earlier on yeah And it's just something that another thing that can potentially artificially create that. So do you think this is useful to throw in every now and again for various things Yeah possibly possibly I think cold showers if your water gets cold enough is practical If you do like you know I do like the Wim Hof breathing because you kind of get in that that real massive sympathetic state and you don feel the cold or you can train yourself not to feel it I think that a really good idea again it's a compliance issue like i used to do that but um the only problem was i would feel so bad when i got out of the shower because of the shrinkage because i'm not i'm not well endowed anyway so then it looked like i had a fucking any like a little outie belly button so i just it made me so feel bad so i was like oh god you know it looked like a turtle poking its head out of a shell oh i wish i wish i could say i couldn't relate i really really do um but i remember like going into like i did i did one of those events a guy called uh brian lauer i've had on the show talking about like breath work and ice stuff and he does these events in hong kong he learned from whim and he did something you do like you learn about whim half and all the methods and then you do a number of them and then you get into a big ice ice bucket you know and yeah and i like i i remember people you know doing breath holds and getting a minute tops then going to like seven minutes after the breathing drills and i i couldn't believe how comfortable i felt i remember i was feeling so nervous and scared about the prostrates of getting into an ice bath and it was so comfortable in a way by the time i got in there for the second time yeah yeah let's say i'm not yet i do want to do one of those i haven't done it yet i still have time but um
