Introduction and ADHD Context
June 06, 2022
One thing I really love about chatting to Luke Lehman is you never ever know what is going to come out of his mouth. Welcome to another episode of the Self Made Podcast and as I just said today I welcome back Luke Lehman. Luke is a generally unique character and a very popular one still sitting in the top five episodes of the Self Made Podcast history and today we talk about something a little bit different but when I get guests on, especially repeat guests, I like to start to learn a little bit about them and build up a bit of a trend or a theme to the episodes that they have. We had Brett on last week and we spoke a little bit ranty and just kind of like put the world to rights with luke there's a little bit of that but what's interesting about luke is he always has a fantastic story to tell and on our last episode go back and watch it cheap plug we start the episode talking about nofap and on this episode we talk about never missing a bathroom break and why it's a really important thing and surprisingly both had very different opinions why never ever miss a bathroom break for him it was down to stories of taking magic mushrooms missing the loo and never ever ever wanting that situation again for me it was the time I get work done in silence. This sets the tone for an episode that is full of stories and it's incredibly interesting but the topic of the day is a little bit different from what Luke normally talks about. I remember vividly the first time he came on the show he was like I don't want to talk about the stuff I always talk about I want to talk about something different and that's where he went into the posture versus performance debate. This time I went into something that's deeply personal to both him and myself. Recently I was diagnosed with ADHD, something that really put a lot of answers in my head for some of the ways I've been and some of the things that happened in my life. And I want to go on a path to learn a little bit more about the condition, how I can master my productivity, what can I do from a medication standpoint. And Luke was the first guy I went to speak to. Having been diagnosed with ADHD as a kid, I probably tried every medication under the books and found many ways from nutrition, performance training, supplementation and medication, ways of managing his condition and allowing him to be one of the most productive human beings I've ever known. In this episode, we learn about what ADHD is, the struggles that both him and myself have faced over the years, and some of the tips that we have done to sort of work around them, the systems that we have created. But this isn't just for people with ADHD. Productivity and procrastination is something that sort of is prevalent in almost every walk of life and almost every business, every endeavor, every diet, there's always this element. Being productive, managing your time, having systems in place is key to any success that we have in life. And this episode is for you if you feel you want to get more done. So without further ado, because this has been a long intro, I will leave you with myself and Luke Lehman.
