Humility and Expertise in Coaching

I think people appreciate when you're genuine and they can, And people are attracted that other people are genuine and aren't trying to hide things. Right. And there's a lot of people in our industry that they do. They're very dogmatic in what they do. Very myopic. They're very black and white, you know, do this, not that. But that's not how this stuff works. And there's not enough people that are standing up there that will harness humility and be genuine. So if someone asks me something, I don't know. I'll just tell them I don't know. I don't know, but I'll try to find out for you. And if I can't, I'll find who can and I'll send them your way. But there's a lot of guys who they want to be this pseudo expert and they'll just answer questions by pulling shit out of their ass. And then you hear this and you go, but that's not correct. That's not even close. But they're so convincing in the way they say it that everyone just follows. And then it gets repeated in the industry and it makes the industry a worse place. I think more people need to just be comfortable saying, look, I don't have all the answers. I don't know. That's outside of my scope of expertise and my scope of knowledge or whatever. But I do know a few guys who might know. Let me ask them and then let me get back to you. And, you know, I suppose those people are thinking that if they don't know the answer to something, they're not as much an expert. I don't know the answer. I think it probably hinders them because like you saying, I don't know, but I'll find out. Now leads you down to meet someone, improve your network or someone that could educate you in helping you have that answer. like I know like part of the reasons why I wanted to do this for so many years is it's just almost being able to chat to really interesting people that are smarter than me in their field and it's that often like your own your own arrogance and pride will actually stop you going because it's that it's the ability to find like you know people like yourself and all the people I've had on this podcast is like I've taught me so much through the years this is not about me you know
