Integrative Personal Training and Scope of Practice
February 18, 2019
Yeah, so I don't like to use the word holistic. A lot of people use holistic, and then you get this weird, like, granola, hippie, crunchy, like, kind of hemp thing going on. But the wave of the future is going to be integrative personal training. And it's going to be in the past, it was personal trainers trying to do rehab, trying to do, you know, trying to look at people's labs and trying to do this, trying to play doctor. And while that's, it's good to know a little bit about that stuff. We all have to stay in scope of practice. So it's important for me to teach people how to speak the same languages so that you can refer out and talk to doctors the right way. Talk to nutritionists the right way. Everybody needs to stay in their lane and do what they're really good at. So for the personal training industry, like I love nutrition. That's one of my favorite things in nutritional biochemistry. And there's a lot of coaches that like to write nutrition that they shouldn't because they just don't understand the dynamics. Just like you wouldn't go to a dietician and have them write your training program. It would be shit, and it might even be detrimental. So I think that teaching people a broad concept of how all these modalities work together and knowing enough of the language to talk to each other. And, you know, maybe you learn enough and get the credentials to do some of that yourself. Like maybe you go do your CISSN. Maybe you do your GDEP. Maybe you get your master's. Maybe you do something so you have that side of it. but the main thing is how do we all work together instead of all bashing each other's modalities that way we can do what's best for our clients right
