The Pitfalls of Intuitive Eating

November 10, 2019

yeah like uh um you know they you hear the whole movement of intuitive eating intuitive eating oh yeah not enough people enough to eat intuitively because if if i didn't understand my food eating intuitively i would intuitively whatever the fuck i want right so at some point we have to say okay at what level of consciousness are you at because you've got four basic levels right you've got you've got you know subconscious incompetence where you're incompetent but you don't realize you're incompetent And then we have to get you to the point where you're consciously incompetent. Okay, now I understand where I'm fucking up Then you get to the point of conscious competence where they know what's going on. They're not screwing up They know how to track They're consciously aware of what they should be doing and they're ticking the boxes and then eventually You get to the point where you have a lot of high-level personal trainers of the guys where they have subconscious competence They can just eat they can look at

the plate they have a rough idea of how many calories on the plate how much protein how much fat how much carb but man that's a skill that has to be built over time it's the same thing like if you get a client in who can bench press 80 kilos you using intuitive eating with that is like putting 200 kilos in the bar and expecting the bench press that it's not going to work they have to build the skill to understand how it works yeah well it's such a strange starting point because they're basically what they've been doing beforehand which hasn't been working has been intuitive eating that's been doing what they do so it's so strange to be like okay whatever you've been doing more of that like just don't listen to any principles well like it started with the with the women right and they started it was like the anti-diet culture that women were subjected to and another group of women were like okay you know you've been told that you know you need to restrict your calories and you need to be on this diet and you're skinny and you hate yourself and like we're the anti of that but they went too far the other way and so they're just a different evil now now one's like you know creating all these different problems uh but it hasn't helped the the other group at all so it's always the gray area the middle ground that we talked about where people are going to find the answers it's all
