The Reality of Body Recomposition

December 27, 2024

Real quick just kind of last topic I want to bring up We don have to spend too much time on it at all I just am curious I know you kind of brought this up I was watching one of your Cerebo videos Body recomp You know a lot of people say you can like build muscle at a deficit or like build muscle maintenance. What are your kind of like thoughts around that? I think they're full of shit. Yeah, I think it feels good. Now, again, I love debating. I love arguments. I love having arguments and arguing like a civil debate. and the a good person who can debate really well is someone who can basically debate both sides and i try that's what so i always look at that like they're i have friends that i don't agree with how they're teaching coaching but i can agree with what they're saying in the situation that it's presented in but i can also argue against other situations so now they are right in that you can't build a lot of muscle fast while you're trying to diet. Like you have two opposing forces. But the thing is, if you're doing a recomp, you're not looking to do it quickly. So if you're eating to recomp, you're losing fat. You're just going to be losing it slowly, and you're going to be putting on muscle very slowly. It is more efficient to pick your poison. So if you want to get lean, go full Monty getting lean if you want to get lean quickly. So if you were if you were at above average body fat level and you really wanted to be below average body fat level, like you really wanted to be, you know, not say dick skin lean, but fairly lean. Like, let's say if you're a woman and you're sitting at 30 percent, right, that's a pretty that's actually pretty average body fat percentage, like 30 to 34 percent. And then their coach tells them they're 26. I'm like, no, you're not, honey. He's he's he's lost about eight to 10 percent somewhere in there. and don't worry about the number. It doesn't change who you are as a person. It's just the fact that you just have this stored food on your body we got to get rid of. And then you're probably going to, the look you want is probably around 24 to 26%. So you look at that, you go, well, you could grow into that by doing it slowly, but it's going to be way more cost-effective and a better return on your investment faster if you just pull off the 8% to 10%, and then we do a long, slow, lean bulk. And then, you know, so you could do what you can do with, like, fat loss. Fat loss runs really quickly. The difference being, like, anabolic processes work really slowly. It's how we're designed.
