Training Adjustments for 'Least Mode' Phases
November 01, 2023
But with kind of the least mode concept here, again, somebody that's maybe not showing great markers here to start. We mentioned the right training. So, again, we've talked a lot about cardio. So doing that's going to be important from a weight training perspective. Is that something that you're also going to back off a little bit as well in this situation? And maybe what does that kind of look like? Yeah, it's all about dose, right? Dose makes the poison. So if somebody is at that point, and people have said this to me in the past, oh, like least mode training is pussy training. It's not pussy training. It's basically looking at it from a perspective of you only have a certain amount of resources. Right now, your resources are not good. So why don't we go in and hit a couple of really hard sets of a few different things and go home? And then if you feel the need to do more than do a lot of ramping warm up sets. But see what is the minimal amount of stimulus you need that you can recover from and just get in, get out and be done with it. and don't stay in the gym for four hours doing bullshit work and bullshit volume that you don't actually need. So it's actually in a lot of cases, the least mode workouts are usually harder than our normal workouts because you're taking things as close to failure as possible. As long as you're not losing technique, right? It's a good time when we do least mode stuff, I tell clients, this is a really good opportunity for you to focus on your technique and don't worry about your load, worry about bar speed and technique and how it feels. In a lot of cases, we'll switch instead of bilateral stuff, we'll switch to a lot of unilateral stuff. So it's basically unilateral stuff. You can still put plenty of attention to the muscle without overdoing it using two muscles, right? Or using two limbs. So it's a good, it's a good opportunity for things like doing structural balance training and doing all the piddly stuff you don't really want to do, like doing your external rotator work, your rhomboid work, that type of stuff. Yeah Cool Yeah No it basically just putting in more quality work but like less like volume like overall essentially there Cool
