Mechanotransduction and Tension-Based Training
February 20, 2026
Okay. So you basically, when you look at tension training, How do we, what does that even mean? Okay. So we, there's a fancy term called mechanotransduction. It's basically, I look at things as like passing information. So you're using some type of external load to contract the muscle under a produced force. That's a piece of mechanical information that's then passed off as the muscle deforms of being lengthened and being shortened, there are structural pieces in the sarcomere that are now deforming. And that deformation process increases the chemical cascade that then upregulates muscle partner synthesis. I'm smiling over here because like gym bros are like, I just lift, dude. Eight to 12. And again, this is why I love these conversations because as a coach, right, if you have that bro mentality still you might not be able to help your clients the way that they need it yeah until and i'm not saying you got to be a fucking you know encyclopedist or anything like that but having this extra information is only going to help like way more people and so i love this like real like technical breakdown of it all
