G-Flux and Activity vs. Caloric Deficits
October 13, 2021
yeah i mean look there's there's a lot of factors it's your physiological state as far as what is your height and weight you know what is your body composition right now if you have a lot of extra stored energy on your body it's very easy to come off fast when you don't want to when you want to get thick skin lean things start to slow down you have to do things more radical um it could be down to age training age, there's a lot of different factors. Like for myself, I used to train twice a day, every day, six days a week and eat, you know, 4,000 calories for contest prep. And I get lean, but that's when I was mid twenties. Now I'm 43. Now I can't do that anymore. And, you know, there's a lot of talk about G flux. And I think John Berardi is one of the first guys who talked about this. And then Jay Tata talks about it too, as far as eat more, do more, eat less, do less. But the thing that people need our sense, there are limits of what we can do, especially when it comes to body comps If you an athlete and you eating for your sport you can do a tremendous amount of work and probably recover up to a point I mean people run ultra marathons I have ultra marathon people that I train triathletes, fucking adventure racers, all this. But when it comes to changing your body physically and building like bodybuilding, there are limits to how much you can do. So you could always add more exercise, but exercise takes more time. So you have to be able to dedicate that your body adapts to that. So you have to keep doing more and more. You have recoverability. So if you're, let's say you're eating 15, 20% deficit, and you want to try to supplement another 15 to 20% deficit with activity, you could probably do that. And it's going to work for as long as it works, and then it doesn't work. And then you have to make a decision. What do I do now I can do more activity or I can pull more food. The most logical thing to do is to pull more food because it doesn't take more time to do that. And then also, if you keep doing more and more exercise, you have to recover from that. So if you add more weightlifting sessions, that's more muscle damage. That's more anabolic response. You need money to pay for that. And if your money and calories isn't high enough, you're going to lose weight, but you're going to start losing an unacceptable amount of muscle in relation to fat.
