Fundamentals vs. 'Cutting Edge' Secrets

October 13, 2021

Yeah. Look, I mean, that's what people, all the time they come to us and they're wanting some cutting edge thing. We actually had a client come on because he heard me on BPAC's podcast and the guy came on and we gave him standard stuff that we do, which is basic fundamental things. And he was like, I don't think this is going to work out for me because I was expecting some cutting edge high tech. I'm like, well, this is all evidence informed, like literature back stuff we're doing. And then we throw in a little bit of razzle dazzle that we've come up with. It's, you know, we haven't found in the literature yet, but if we know the chemistry, it works out and it wasn't good enough for him. He goes, no, no, no, this is not what I thought it was. What the fuck did you think was going to happen? Like, we're going to give you like, I've got some weird secret I got from a fucking Egyptian tomb. Like some I found the secret to getting shredded and fixed fast on some hieroglyphs in fucking Cairo. I mean, come on, man. Like, if you can't know the basic fundamental shit, I'm not going to give you anything advanced. I'm not going to give you crazy stuff that Yeah, do I have some shit in my back pocket? That's crazy. Yes. You can't even track your calories and be consistent. You can't even fucking train you move like shit, your posture shit. Like, Why would I give you some crazy ass protocol when you haven't earned that yet? And, you know, look, there are a lot of great coaches out there. A lot of great coaches know what they're doing. If you, if you look around, everybody's saying the same shit, you know, there are some people that are, you know, they want to add a band to everything and they want to fucking, they want to work on certain angles to hit this tiny little fucking five soccer mirrors and your lower left glute or something. But realistically, if you just fucking work on basic shit, watch Pumping Iron and see how those guys are training. Train like that. Do table pushaways. Watch what goes in your mouth. Make sure you take a good multivitamin, essential fats. It's real fucking easy. What they don't want is they don't want to understand it takes discipline and time to build a truly epic physique. But world-class physique is not built in 12 weeks. I don't care what Instagram tells you. And I think...

social media has jaded a lot of people's opinion, especially people that aren't in the industry that are paying people like this to help them is that Instagram is a highlight reel. So for every, for every client you see that someone puts up that has a truly epic physique, like you and Krista and a bunch of our other clients, there's 10 or 20 more people. They got shit fucking results. And part of that was they just didn't have the mental space to do it. They didn't have the fortitude to do it or yeah, your coaching may suck. It may work for a few people, but it doesn't work for everybody. Some people can just be resistant to things and need a little bit more time, but they go, well, you know, this person did this in 12 weeks. I'm like, yeah, but you're not that person. You, that person doesn't have kids. They don't have bills. They don't have a fucking 60 hour week job. You know, your, your situation is different. Your body's different. So, but the science and the chemistry and the biology is all the same. you know you can sprinkle in a little bit of extra stuff with genetic polymorphisms that might make things a little bit harder for you or you know there might be you know your muscle fiber makeup your by your biomechanics because your skeletal system and your joint all this stuff is going to make a difference on somebody else being very good at a transformation and somebody not being good somebody being good at power lifting and somebody not being good um but most of that stuff is a very small percentage the the one great equalizer is patience discipline and fortitude and just knuckle down and get the done and stop making excuses but everybody wants to make an excuse that it can't possibly be this it's got to be the carbs got to be the fat it's got to be whatever um now the the the deal is you just don't want it bad enough like you either want abs you don't you you either want you either want to bench twice your body weight or you don't all these things take time to develop it's athletic development oh my god yeah and and i've actually like i've said that whatever excuse someone has we have a solution for that barring you know these these like uh crazy situations in a family or something or whatever but somebody who has an excuse i've always provided a solution and then they come back with another excuse and and you and I are very like we we say the truth we're very like unfiltered and I'm like okay when you just don't want it bad enough because I'm sick of seeing you run around in circles and then creating you know excuses and there are people that respond well to that there are others that are like all right go fuck yourself but that's the truth and you had mentioned not comparing yourself and the highlight reel of Instagram.
