Transition from IT to Coaching
July 03, 2018
Yeah So I was I was kind of in and out of the industry So for a while I was training and then I was only kind of doing online stuff And then basically, I kind of had it with the industry, and I left for a while and started doing things in the IT industry because I was a computer programmer originally. That's what I was doing when I was a kid. And so I kind of went kind of in the IT and audiovisual field, that type of thing. And then I was just like, man, this is not for me. I'm going to go back into the training. And then Polycom Group called me and said, hey, you know, we're looking for another coach. Do you want to come on full time? Stop doing the kind of the part-time thing. And I went, yeah, that's cool, whatever. So then I just packed all my shit up and I went to Rhode Island. Yeah. And you obviously identified that like being more of an educator versus just a coach in the gym? yeah 100 like i was i was always kind of in that role of wanting to help other trainers and saying hey maybe there's better ways of doing these things it's what they you know let's look at the research and this is what the research says here and here and this is maybe maybe there's better ways of doing things and uh and yeah so like i i was always a really good like coach like face to face and I love doing that type of stuff but um there's just not that many really good mentors in the industry so I kind of gravitated towards that because of you know like you said in the intro the no bullshit type of policy and um there's a lot of people selling lots of bullshit these days and that's the one thing I wanted to to always fight against so yeah yeah now obviously you've you've mentioned uh Polquin he's he's obviously someone who shaped your career um in the early beginnings who are some of the other uh mentors and guys that have sort of put you on your path uh to and sort of created to where you are today
