Critique of Extreme Diets: Carnivore vs. Vegan
January 24, 2025
it's a really controversial thing out there, which is why you need to be careful who you listen to. It's not something to fear. But to summarize just how important it is for food quality, let's highlight the importance of fiber and where the carnivore dumbasses the carnivore and peter crab get it all wrong well okay so yeah i mean oh man you gotta stay a little more neutral um look and the thing is like if you look at if you look at extreme diets like that uh like carnivore it to me everything's a tool so if if you have somebody with like an ibs or ibd and they feel better on that knock yourself out. But, but, you know, just like any other extreme diet, you're going to have to, you're going to have to accept that there's nutrient deficiencies. So if you're, if you're on a vegan diet, if you want a vegan diet to do really well, you're going to have to expect to take some supplements because there's just certain things you can't get out of plants that you get out of animals. If you can't get any vitamin A, vitamin A in plants is beta carotene. So your body has to convert that. If you've got a polymorphism that slows down your ability to convert beta-carotene vitamin A, you could have a vitamin A deficiency because you can't make enough of it. Even iron, like absorbable iron, hemi-iron, you don't find it in plants. You don't find it in animals. You might take an iron supplement. On the carnivore side, you know, one of the big things I've seen lately, and I just actually got some of his blood work, one of Max's clients, this guy looks incredible. Six pack. I've known him for a long time. you're a really good dude his labs look absolutely atrocious i guess triglycerides are in the thousands so um yeah uh well hdl is like in the 20s his total cholesterol is over a 350 you know so it's there's something there's something wrong so it's either it's either going to be his diet or he's got some like really pathological thing that he's talked to a doctor about so he's he's going to the doctor today to talk to him. But I was like, what's he doing, Max? Max, because he likes to eat a carnivore diet. I said, does he eat carnivore plus veg or fruit? He goes, nah, I just, I think he just eats meat. I'm like, okay, fuck. Like this is a, this is a example of somebody who could actually have a genetic predisposition for issues with blood fats. And he's eating a diet that's actually might be a good diet for one person, probably horrible for him so like the first thing we're going to suggest is maybe looking at the types of meat he's eating and make some switches out like maybe switch out some red meat for some fish or you know or chicken i haven't seen all of what he's eating yet so i don't know but then also saying look you need to eat some fucking plants you need some plants vegans they say you need all these plants vegans are right these guys carnivores says you need to eat some meat they're right. If you get both of them to have a baby together, you have a perfect diet, eat plenty of animal protein, eat shit tons of veggies and a little bit of fruit and you're good. Um,
